Hik-Connect App User Guide
1. Installing the App
- Open your phone or tablet’s app store.
- Download the Hik-Connect app.
2. Register an Account
When using the app for the first time you will need to register an account first.
- Open the app, a screen will prompt you to select a region (if not Australia) then tap ‘OK’:
- Tap ‘Login/Register’ then on the next screen tap ‘Register’:
- Tap ‘Agree’:
- Select the region if not Australia then tap the tick icon:
- Enter an email address and password for the account OR tap ‘Register by Mobile Phone Number’ and enter your phone number and a password then tap ‘Get Security Code’:
- Enter the CAPTCHA security code as shown on your device screen then tap the tick icon:
- Enter the verification code from the email or text message and tap ‘Finish’. You are now ready to add or link cameras.
- Open the app, a screen will prompt you to select a region (if not Australia) then tap ‘OK’:
3. Adding Cameras (to primary account holder’s phone)
- From the home screen, tap the ‘+’ icon then tap ‘Scan QR Code’. A QR code scanner will appear, position the reader over the QR code:
- Once the device is located it will show the model #. Tap ‘Add’ then on the next screen tap ‘Next’:
- Enter a new camera name i.e ‘front camera’ then tap ‘Save’:
- On the service provider authorisation screen tap ‘Skip’. The device will now be added to the homepage:
- If prompted to enter an encryption password when viewing the cameras for the first time, enter BLUSKY
- From the home screen, tap the ‘+’ icon then tap ‘Scan QR Code’. A QR code scanner will appear, position the reader over the QR code:
4. Sharing Devices
NOTE: You can only share devices from the primary device/account that the cameras are registered to.
4.1. From the primary device
- From the home screen, tap the three dots on the device you want to share then tap ‘Share’ from the dropdown menu:
- Tap ‘Share with User’ then tap ‘Share via QR Code’ to generate a QR code:
- Tap on the device if you want to select certain permissions to share (tap the arrow icon to return back to permissions screen) then tap ‘OK’:
- A QR code will then be generated for the secondary phone user to scan (the code will expire after the designated time):
4.2. From the secondary device
NOTE: The secondary device must have the Hik-Connect app installed and a new account registered. You cannot use the same login details as the primary user. Follow sections 1 and 2 to download and register a new account.
- From the home screen, tap the ‘+’ icon then tap ‘Scan QR Code’:
- A QR reader will appear, position it over the primary user’s device displaying the QR code (as generated in section 4.1) to link the camera.
- If prompted to enter an encryption password when viewing the cameras for the first time, enter BLUSKY
5. Live View Functions
- From the home screen, tap the camera you would like to view.

- Click the ‘Playback’ icon to enter playback mode:

8 Saving & Exporting Video Clips
8.1. Manually record clips
- From the camera’s live view or playback screen, find your desired day and time.
- Tap the record icon
to begin recording a clip.
- Tap the record icon
again to stop.
- The clip will automatically save to the app. See section 8.3 for viewing and export options.
8.2. Downloading event clips
- From the camera’s playback screen, select your desired event clip or timeline event from the playback section then tap the download iconÂ

NOTE: Tap the playback view icons ( &
) to switch between playback modes.
- You can preview and edit the length of the event clip using the yellow sliders, then tap ‘Download’ to begin downloading the clip:
- When the clip has finished downloading, it will automatically direct you to the stored ‘Pictures and Videos’ section in the app. See section 8.3 for viewing and exporting saved clips.
8.3. Viewing and exporting saved clips
- From the main menu bar, tap ‘Me’ then tap ‘Pictures and Videos’:
- Select individual files to play the video/view the image and see exporting options:
9. Logging in
- Tap theÂ
 icon to open the app.
- Enter either your username or email address and password OR tap ‘Login by Mobile Phone Number’ to enter in your phone number and password.
- Tap ‘Login’.
10. Forgotten Password
- If you have forgotten your account password, tap ‘Forgot Password’ from the app’s home screen.
- Select to reset the password either by username/email address or phone number.
- Type in the username/email or phone number and tap ‘Next’.
- A verification code will be sent to the registered phone or email address.
- Input the verification code and tap ‘Next’.
- Enter a new password, confirm the password then tap ‘Submit’ to complete the reset.
11. Troubleshooting
11.1. ‘Input encryption password’ prompt
- This prompt appears when you are connecting/viewing a camera for the first time.
- Enter the encryption password BLUSKY
- Please contact the BLU SKY support team on (08) 7123 4177 if you require further assistance.
11.2. ‘Number of streaming channels exceeded’ error
- If this error message appears when trying to live-view cameras, please reboot your recorder by turning it off at the switch at the rear of the recorder and wait for 10 seconds then turn it back on again.
11.3. Edit/remove sharing permissions
- From the home screen of the Hik-Connect app, tap the ‘+’ icon:
- Tap ‘Share Device’:
- Tap ‘Others’ Devices’ to view the list of device users being shared to:
- Edit or remove the users as required.
11.4. ‘No more connections allowed for the device’ error
- Turn the Internet modem off then on again.
- Wait 5 minutes.
- Turn the recorder off via the switch at the back of the recorder.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Turn the recorder back on.
- Wait 5 minutes.
- Check the Hik-Connect app to see if the error message still displays. If so, please contact the Blu Sky support team on (08) 7123 4177 for further assistance.
